I've thought for a while I'd be a better co-dev to work with if I also knew a bit of the programming side. I've dabbled before in engines on and off for years, but rarely committed to making a real game. After we just released Contract Rush, this break period felt like the perfect time to try and give it another shot. This time, I gave myself a challenge to actually finish something in around 5 days, no matter how bad or simple it was.The result was a small project in a genre most devs have tooled around with in the early days, a top down space shooter. But with a twist of being a grounded soldier instead! Kinda like Capcom's "Commando", which I think I had first played earlier that year in my quest to play and beat every Capcom game in order (I stopped at Ghost's n' Goblins. The 6th game on the list.)

You control a hired gun sent to destroy field robots for their parts.
For some reason, the movement is way snappier on gamepad than keyboard.
I don't even know why.Given what it is, I'm fairly happy with the result. Although I haven't really programmed again since making it so... Mission failed?
